Aladdin was a hit animated film in 1992, and 2019 saw a live-action version of the same name. Pragmatic Play wasted no time in capitalizing on renewed interest in the franchise, releasing an Aladdin and the Sorcerer pokie in November (I guess Aladdin and Jafar would’ve resulted in a Disney lawsuit).

Return to Player and Volatility

The Return to Player, or RTP, is a long-term percentage that measures the expected payback to the player. For example, a game with a 95% RTP would pay back (on average) $95 for every $100.

The RTP for this pokie is 96.23%. That’s an above-average percentage, and it’s superior to what’s offered by pokies such as Boom Pirates and Dragon Stone.

Pragmatic Play rates Aladdin and the Sorcerer as a high volatility pokie. This means, on average, that there are fewer payouts, but big wins can occur in short order.

Betting Range

The player has 40 betting options on this pokie. The smallest amount is $0.20 ($0.01 per each payline). Meanwhile, the largest possible wager is $100 per spin. This provides players with a solid range of option, although high rollers may be unsatisfied. However, anyone else should be pleased with the results.

Aladdin and the Sorcerer Paytable

This is a complete paytable for the pokie. Payouts vary based on the player’s wager, and the following examples assume a maximum bet of $100 per spin.

  • Light Green Stone – This option pays $15 for three matches, $50 for four, and $200 for five.
  • Light Blue Stone – This icon is worth $25 for three matches, $75 for four, and $250 for five.
  • Blue Stone – This symbol is valued at $35 for three matches, $100 for four, and $375 for five.
  • Purple Stone – This square gem is worth $50 for three matches, $125 for four, and $500 for five.
  • Red Stone – Likely a ruby, this precious gem pays $75 for three matches, $150 for four, and $625 for five.
  • Light Green Stone with Gold Trim – Pays $100 for three matches, $200 for four, and $750 for five.
  • Light Blue Stone with Gold Trim – This triangular icon is worth $125 for three matches, $300 for four, and $1,000 for five.
  • Blue Stone with Gold Trim – This diamond-shaped icon is worth $150 for three, $375 for four, and $1,250 for five.
  • Purple Stone with Gold Trim – Valued at $200 for three matches, $500 for four, and $2,000 for five.
  • Red Stone with Gold Trim – The most valuable of all the gem icons, this symbol pays $375 for three matches, $1,000 for four, and $5,000 for five.
  • Wild Symbol – This icon is easy to identify, as it has the word “Wild” emblazoned across it. It appears on reels two through four and substitutes for all symbols except Aladdin and the sorcerer. When part of a winning payline, it’s worth $375 for three matches, $1,000 for four, and $5,000 for five.

Aladdin vs Sorcerer

The Aladdin icon appears on the first reel. Meanwhile, the sorcerer symbol is present on the fifth reel. Both of these icons are wild and substitute for all other symbols in the game.

When the Aladdin icon appears without the sorcerer, three to six wild symbols are randomly added to the screen. The same thing occurs if the sorcerer symbol appears without Aladdin.

When both symbols appear on the reels, the Respin Feature is triggered. At the same time, stacked wilds fill up the first and fifth reels.

Respin feature from Aladdin and the Sorcerer pokie from Pragmatic Play

Respin Feature

In this feature, the reels spin while Aladdin and the sorcerer engage in battle. Each combatant begins with three health bars. If either character appears on the reels without the other, then their opponent loses a health bar.

The combat continues until one character is reduced to zero health. If Aladdin loses, then the bonus phase comes to an end. If the sorcerer loses, then the Respin Feature moves to level two.

At this point, all wilds from the previous spin remain on the screen. Three respins are also awarded to the player. During the second of these respins, all wilds are granted a 2x multiplier. On the third respin, this increases to 3x.

Final Thoughts

I found Aladdin and the Sorcerer to be an enjoyable pokie, and it’s available from any casino that carries Pragmatic Play games. Normally I’d suggest Joe Fortune, but this is one of the few game developers that they don’t offer.

The RTP is better than average, and the high volatility offers the chance of successive big wins. I also like the overall theme, although the background music becomes repetitive after a while. The game also has a variety of wagers to meet almost any budget.

If you enjoy this game, I would also suggest trying some Egyptian-themed slots. I’ve reviewed a number of them on this site, including Egyptian King and Nights of Egypt.
